SiteGround has been around since 2004, but longevity alone is not enough reason to choose a host in 2026.
The more useful question is whether SiteGround’s current WordPress tools, backups, support, security and performance features justify its higher renewal pricing.
SiteGround now positions itself as a managed-style hosting platform rather than simply a basic shared host. Its current WordPress plans include free SSL, CDN, daily backups, managed updates, migration tools, caching, security features and 24/7 support, with staging and additional developer features available on higher plans.
If you want to compare SiteGround with other providers, see our Hosting Reviews for 2026.
In this review, we’ll look at:
- what SiteGround offers in 2026;
- WordPress hosting and management tools;
- backups and restore;
- performance and caching;
- security;
- migration support;
- customer support;
- pricing and renewal costs;
- what we like;
- what to watch;
- and who SiteGround is best suited to.
SiteGround at a Glance
SiteGround currently offers:
- managed-style WordPress hosting;
- free SSL;
- free CDN;
- daily backups;
- free email;
- free site migration tools;
- managed WordPress updates;
- multi-level caching;
- enhanced security;
- 24/7 support;
- staging on higher plans.
The biggest difference from the old review is that SiteGround is now much more than a basic shared-hosting package.
WordPress Hosting and Management
SiteGround’s current WordPress hosting includes managed autoupdates, its Speed Optimizer plugin, Security Optimizer plugin, WP-CLI and SSH access, along with caching and migration tools.
For higher-tier plans, SiteGround also provides staging environments, Git integration and priority support.
That makes SiteGround especially relevant to website owners who want WordPress management tools built into the hosting platform instead of assembling everything separately.
Our view: SiteGround’s strongest appeal is not a single speed number. It is the combination of WordPress management, caching, backup, security and support features in one environment.
Backups and Restore
SiteGround includes automatic daily backups and currently advertises 30 days of backup history, with one-click restoration.
Its WordPress service also describes backups as geo-distributed, meaning copies are stored separately for additional redundancy.
That is a useful layer of protection for business and content websites.
For an important site, we would still keep an independent off-site backup as an extra safeguard.
Our view: Daily backups and easy restore are one of the more practical reasons to pay for a more managed hosting platform.
Performance and Caching
SiteGround’s current hosting uses SSD storage, its own caching stack, CDN integration and customised server infrastructure. Higher plans also advertise enhanced PHP performance.
That gives the platform a strong technical base, but real-world speed still depends on:
- theme quality;
- plugin load;
- image optimisation;
- caching configuration;
- database health;
- and how the website is built.
For that reason, we do not rely on the old 514 ms figure from the previous review.
Our view: SiteGround’s performance story is better explained through its current infrastructure and caching tools than through an old one-off benchmark.
Security
SiteGround currently includes free SSL, proactive server monitoring, account isolation, anti-bot and DDoS protection, a web application firewall, security updates and its WordPress Security Optimizer plugin.
That gives WordPress users a useful security baseline without needing to bolt on every protection separately.
As always, hosting-level security does not replace good site maintenance.
Themes, plugins, user permissions, passwords and updates still matter.

Migration
SiteGround currently offers free site migration tools and managed WordPress transfer options.
That is particularly useful when moving an established site where files, databases, SSL, DNS, email and redirects all need to be handled carefully.
Our view: Migration support is one of SiteGround’s stronger practical features, especially for business owners who do not want to manage the move themselves.
SiteGround Support
SiteGround provides 24/7 support and continues to position support as one of the stronger parts of its hosting service.
For business owners, the useful question is not simply whether support exists, but whether help is available when the website, SSL, DNS, migration or hosting environment causes a problem.
Higher-tier plans also include priority support, which gives more urgent requests faster access to experienced support staff.
At the same time, hosting support should not be confused with having a developer on call.
A hosting provider can help with the hosting environment, account issues and many WordPress-related problems, but it may not fix every theme conflict, custom-code issue or third-party plugin problem.
Our view: SiteGround’s support is one of the reasons it can make sense for business websites where downtime or technical problems have real consequences.
Pricing and Renewal Costs
This is the section where SiteGround deserves the closest attention.
Current SiteGround WordPress plans are advertised with substantial introductory discounts, but the renewal prices are much higher. For example, the current StartUp plan is advertised at a low introductory monthly equivalent and renews at a considerably higher monthly equivalent when prepaid annually. GrowBig and GoGeek follow the same pattern.
That does not automatically make SiteGround poor value.
It does mean that the renewal price should be part of the decision from day one, rather than something discovered later.
If you are trying to keep the total cost of running a website under control, our guide to building and maintaining a website on a tight budget looks at hosting as part of the wider website budget.
Before signing up, we would compare:
- introductory price;
- renewal price;
- number of websites;
- storage;
- staging availability;
- backup features;
- priority support;
- migration tools;
- and whether the extra managed features justify the ongoing cost.
SiteGround’s shared hosting plans are also set to automatic annual renewal by default, with renewal reminders sent in advance.
Our view: SiteGround makes the most sense when you value the managed WordPress features, support and convenience enough to justify the higher renewal cost.

Who SiteGround Is Best Suited To
We would consider SiteGround for:
- WordPress website owners;
- small and medium businesses;
- website owners who value support;
- sites that benefit from daily backups;
- users who want staging and managed tools;
- businesses migrating from another host;
- website owners who prefer convenience over the absolute lowest price.
It may be less suitable for someone whose main priority is keeping hosting costs as low as possible over the long term.

SiteGround Review 2026: Final Thoughts
SiteGround is still a credible hosting option in 2026, but the recommendation depends heavily on what you value.
The strongest reasons to consider it are:
- managed WordPress features;
- daily backups;
- security tooling;
- migration support;
- staging on higher plans;
- caching and performance tools;
- and 24/7 support.
The main issue is price.
SiteGround’s introductory deals can look very attractive, but the renewal cost is the number that matters if you plan to stay for more than the first term.
For a business website where support, backups and management tools matter, that higher cost may be justified.
For a simple brochure site or a very budget-conscious project, there may be cheaper options that do enough.
